Centre of Analytic Chemistry
The centre offers a wide range of accredited and other chemical and physical analyses including professional consultations.
Centre of Analytic Chemistry offers a wide range of services in the fields of non-destructive (dry method) and destructive (wet method) chemical analyses. The Centre of Analytic Chemistry participates at analytic work of technological projects that are solved with the support of state, it executes withdrawals and analyses of waste, analyses of savage and superficial water for industrial companies and private people.
- In the sphere of the environment we carry out the basic accredited tests and accredited sampling of savage and superficial waters required by the Act No. 254/01 Coll. and Regulation of the Ministry of the Environment No. 293/2002. We carry out accredited tests and accredited sampling of waste, water leaches, soil, and sediments. For these analyses the Centre is equipped with an atomic absorption spectrometer Q-Solaar made by the firm UNICAM, optical spectrometer with ionic bonded plasm OPTIMA 3000 from the firm Perkin Elmer, liquid and gas chromatograph and other instruments.
- In the branch of agriculture we carry out accredited samplings and accredited tests of fertilizers, composts, soil. We provide identification of selected elements in plant materials.
- In the branch of raw materials, products and technological check-ups we carry out fast and complete non-destructive analyses by means of X-ray spectral analyses and X-ray diffraction analyses. Further on we carry out accredited withdrawals of solid substances and determination of their crystalline composition (test number 53- accredited tests).
- § X-ray spectral analysis is able to indicate all elements in samples beginning with fluorine as for the aspects of quality and/or quantity. By means of the analytic program UQ we are able to indicate 77 elements within 30 minutes with the accuracy up to 10% relative. This method also works with calibrating curve, the accuracy of determination is up to 2% relative. This analysis is highly suitable for fast operational determination of e.g. SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, TiO2, CaO and MgO from the unit of ppm up to tens of per cents.
- In the sphere of physical qualities of materials we provide measurements of distribution of the size of particles (for these purposes we are equipped with laser meter MALVERN 2600C), measurements of the specific surface and porosity of powdery materials.
- § X-ray diffraction analysis is capable to indicate the quantity and/or quality of individual crystalline phase in the given sample e.g. content of alfa-SiO2 in kaolin or in shale, to distinguish individual crystalline forms, which are formed in the sample under the analysis (e.g. CaO, CaCO3, Ca(OH)2 etc). We execute these analyses on the equipment X-ray spectrometer PW1404 supplied by the firm PHILIPS and the diffractometer Philips APD1700
